Greetings!
I would like to be your massage therapist! My name
is Hiyala Indiga. I
have
been doing massage since 1992. I was trained at Harbin
Hot Springs in California and worked at a top-notch spa in
Napa Valley for one year before moving to Minnesota. I call my
business Body Prayers, because I believe that our bodies are
sacred temples of the soul.
"A Day without Pain is a
Blessing"
Take delight in those days, and count yourself among the
lucky. Always remain steadfast in your daily quest towards
wellness. Exercise, think good thoughts, spend time in
nature, breath deep and eat pure, fresh healthy
food.

My
training: I received most of my training from
1992-1993 at Harbin Hot Springs (Integrative Yoga and Deep
Tissue with Diana Lonsdale and Shiatsu with Harold Dull, the
creator of "Watsu", a floating style of Shiatsu done
in a warm pool. Harbin Hot Springs is a new age
resort/conference center/intentional community just
north of
Napa
Valley. I worked at Calistoga Village Inn and Spa
and at Wilbur hot Springs before returning to Minnesota. Since
then I have studied Positional Release Therapy at Kripalu
Institute as well as various other trainings at Northwestern
and Centerpoint. (2 schools in the Twin Cities)

I
do 5 kinds of massage: swedish, shiatsu, positional release,
ashiatsu and thai (see
descriptions to right) .
To
make your massage more enjoyable:
1)
I keep my talking to a minimum. However, if you want, you can
talk to me,and I will answer!
2)
You will be on a nice warm, heated blanket.
3)
I let you choose the music you like
4)
I do an in depth interview to determine what you want/need.
(not counted as part of your massage time)
5)
I keep you draped except for the part of the body I am working
on..(for thai massage, you keep your clothes on)
6)
We can save time at the end or beginning to learn some yoga
poses that might be helpful to your condition.

May all Beings be Happy,
May all Beings be free from undue suffering.

Hiyala
Indiga from Body prayers yoga/massage is a gifted massage therapist. I
leave her studio free from pain and with a deep feeling of well being.
Hiyala's skill draws from extensive and ongoing training, vast
knowledge of how the body works, and powerful intuition. She works with,
not on, her clients. She asks questions, listens well, and shares
what she knows so I can participate in the healing. The work is never about her
and her success, but about what I need to learn to heal. When she
thought another approach might help, she worked with me to figure out the next
step.
I am grateful to Hiyala for her great
skill and generous spirit. She is totally committed to increasing wellness
in the world. I have learned a lot from her and look forward to continuing
to work with her for healing and enlightenment. Ann Haglund - Client

Massage
techniques that I practice :
Ashiatsu=Barefoot masssage
If you like a deep massage you will enjoy this heavenly technique of my
feet rubbing oil on your body. Client lays on a mat on
the floor and is draped except for the part of the body I am
working on.
Swedish
massage uses warm oil applied with a soft, medium or deep
kneading motion. option to add hot
stones
treatment for an additional $15. Or, if you prepay
for two massages,
get the hot stones treatment free for one of them.
warm stones placed alongside the spine to penetrate heat
deep into the muscles , allowing for a deeper massage with
less pain. .
Shiatsu
is done through the clothing, but can also be done in
combination with the swedish massage. Instead of
kneading with oil, the action is one of pressing down to open
the energy flow in the meridians of the body.
Thai
massage:
The client is dressed in loose fitting clothing and lays
on a comfortable mat on the floor. This massage is much
like Shiatsu, but I use my feet as well as my hands to apply
the pressure to the energy meridians of the body. This massage
also incorporates many stretching movements and works to
increase the range of motion of the joints.
Positional
Therapy:
Very effective massage for getting rid of 'trigger
points" , which are basically, "snags" in the
thin layer of tissues that surround your muscles. This
technique is sometimes called "fold and hold"
and is used by some chiropractors and physical therapists.
You will be "folded" into various positions
that will release the muscles that are tight. Each
"fold' is held for 90 seconds. You will almost
immediately feel the release of your long held pain.
A clothes on massage. A good masage to choose when
you have limited time or budget because it is quick and
"to the point". You can schedule a 15 minute
spot massage and be back to work within an half hour!
rocking
is soothing and nuturing. As you begin to "settle
in " to your body, I begin by gently rocking your body
from side to side as I work up the spine. Let me
know if you don't like anything. Nothing Has to be
"tolerated". .Each massage is customized to the
client. Not everybody likes the same things. Be the
master of your massage. I know that it is so nice to
relax but especially the first time, your massage is enhanced
by your feedback.
My
table massage is often a blend of the above techniques.
In
Gratitude, I offer a prayer of Thanksgiving to my Swedish
and German ancestors, my loving Mother Shirley and my loving
Father Gordon. To my Brother Joel, and his wife Diane for
bearing my nieces, Kelli, Laurie and Kristi. To Marc, whose
patience and steadfastness have sustained me for more than
10 years. To my Body Prayer Sisters AmyLeo Barankovitch,
Luann KinTree, MaryAnn Myers, Maureen Skelly, "Ulla"
Ogren, "Feather" Ray (and her children Jordan,
Samara and Michaela), Ismid, Bonnie Berquam, Gabriella Kushi,
Claudia and Lomilori, Hyae Keong all of whom have fed
my soul. To all of my yoga students and Teachers:
William Protengier, Maggie Kessel, Kittie
Kuluvar,Joseph Lepage, Makunda Stiles, Dr Jeff Migdow.
To Harbin Hot Springs and it's care-givers for the
nourishment that I obtained so that I was able to once again
face the world. To Mother Earth and the abundant life that
she, in co-operation with Father Sky and Sister Rain and
Brother Sunshine and all the other
elements and Great
Ones(Christ, Buddha, Mother Theresa, Joan of Arc...)
that have partnered up with God. With Love and Deep
appreciation, I acknowledge my heart, my inner teacher.

Extras
1)
add aromatherapy
to the oil (add $5). Aromatherapy is not just for the
pleasure of smelling good, but these are concentrated doses of
plants which have healthful effects on your body.
For instance, if you have lymph blockage, then I would
recommend essential oil of grapefruit which is good for the
lymph system. Sometimes, your nose
"knows" what is best for you. You can pick, or
let me choose.
2)
Hot
stone
massage, add $20. Hot stones embibed with good
vibrations from Mother Superior (North Shore) placed along the
spine, on hands and feet, penetrate the warmth deep into the
muscle tissue, allowing for a deeper massage.
3)
parafin
heat moisturizing treatment for
the hands or feet ($15ea)
