How
to prepare for your Yoga Practice at Body Prayers
Arrive
Early-allow
10-15 minutes to sign in and settle down. Use this time to center yourself and
focus your thoughts. (If you are new allow 15 minutes register.)
Prior to class, please inform
the instructor
of any medical conditions or injuries you may have, if you are pregnant, or
menstruating. The
instructor will give you the proper modifications for the poses.
Refrain
from eating
2-3 hours before class. Give your body time to digest your food. A full stomach
can lead to sickness, nausea, dizziness, and stomach cramps. A full stomach also
promotes lethargy as digestion takes energy away from the rest of the body.
Please leave
cell phones and pagers in your car.
Use this time to release yourself from the hustle and stress of life away from
your yoga practice. Make arrangements with the instructor if you are waiting for
an important call.
Avoid
smoking before class or wearing perfume/cologne to class.
Be considerate of others in class who may be sensitive to the scents.
Bring
your own yoga mat.
or..Studio mats are available for your use . Please clean it after
use. We also sell a variety of high quality sticky mats in the studio,
including Earth friendly non-pvc mats that cannot be found in stores. .
Be
quiet when entering the studio.
Leave conversation in the lobby area. Use the quiet time in the studio to relax
and focus. Feel free to ask questions for clarification during the yoga class,
but keep your observations about how the poses feel to yourself since your
comments take others out of their own experience. We do not encourage our
tendency to compare ourself with others.
Bring
a towel
if you perspire heavily. You can use the towel to prevent slipping.
Consistent
practice ensures consistent benefits.
For best results, practice 3-5 times a week. Whether at the studio or your own
personal practice.
Yoga
is not competitive. Some
days are better than others, listen to your body and know your limitations.
Also, enter into the appropriate class level for your practice.
Help
keep the studio neat.
Please neatly place props and mats that you have used back in there designated
areas.
Take
only what you need for the yoga practice into the studio.
Place shoes, purses, water bottles cell phones (turned off!) and extra clothing in the
massage room when you enter.
Drink
your water before class
to remain hydrated but be mindful that too much water can lead to stomach
cramps. Also, drink plenty of water after class to rid the body of toxins.
